Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before venturing into the wild blue yonder. We've heard it all — and yes, we're still standing.

The jungle waits for no one — but we do have standards. If conditions are unsafe (thunderstorms, excessive winds, or enough rain to float an ark), your Captain — our Head Jungle Guide — makes the final call. Should the expedition be cancelled, you'll receive a voucher to rebook before the end of the following season. Think of it as a detour, not a dead end.

Your expedition launches from Liberty Harbor Marina, 10 Marin Blvd, Jersey City, NJ. Here's how to navigate the concrete jungle to get there:

  • By car: Take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 14C (Jersey City). Follow signs toward Liberty State Park. Parking is available at the marina.
  • By PATH train: Take the PATH to Hoboken Terminal, then a short rideshare or taxi to the marina (~10 min).
  • By ferry: NYC Waterway ferries serve Liberty Harbor from Midtown and Downtown Manhattan.
  • By rideshare: Drop-off at Liberty Harbor Marina, 10 Marin Blvd, Jersey City. We suggest arriving 15 minutes early — the tides wait for no one.

All explorers receive a safety briefing before we venture into the deep. A few jungle rules to be aware of:

  • Shoes off at the gangway — the deck is sacred territory. Your footwear will be stored safely while you're aboard.
  • Life jackets are available and strongly encouraged. Even the bravest explorers wear them.
  • No red wine aboard — the deck is white, and the spirits are vengeful. Trust us on this one.
  • Dress in layers — the water has a way of changing its mind about the weather.

Little adventurers are welcome aboard! Children under 5 may find the finer points of navigation less riveting than their parents, but they're permitted. We don't recommend the voyage for children under 2, though if they must brave the wild, infant life jackets are available. After all, every great explorer starts somewhere — usually crying and in a diaper.

The horizon is your friend — keep your eyes on it and your head above the cabin. Here are the survival tips our seasoned explorers swear by:

  • Stay in fresh air and avoid going below deck
  • Ginger pills, pressure-point wristbands, or doctor-prescribed patches are your allies
  • Take any over-the-counter seasickness medication at least two hours before departure
  • Go easy on the jungle juice — alcohol and seasickness are old enemies, and not the fun kind

We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before departure — the tides have schedules too. For private charters, we'll hold the boat if you're running behind, but the expedition ends at the originally scheduled time regardless. Time and tide, as they say, wait for no man. Or woman. Or tardy explorer.

The jungle can be unpredictable. Here's our cancellation policy:

  • Weather cancellation: If we cancel due to unsafe conditions, you'll receive a full voucher valid through the following season. No explorer left behind.
  • 8+ days before departure: Full refund minus a 15% booking fee, or reschedule for the following season.
  • 0–7 days before departure: No refunds or rescheduling — the jungle is unforgiving, and so is our calendar.

Tips go entirely to the crew — the brave souls who wrestled the wheel so you could enjoy the views (and the snacks). We suggest 18–22%, though feel free to go higher if you made it back alive. Pay by card during booking, or settle up in cash, Venmo, or Zelle after the voyage. They've earned it. Probably.
